I wanted to write about what’s happening in politics from a spiritually-based viewpoint, in a non-polarizing way. I got to three single-spaced pages before my left brain rebelled and my perception went blurry. “This isn’t it,” my inner voice said, rather unnecessarily. So I began a new page and waited in blankness. What idea would pop into the little window of my Magic-8-Ball mind? Ah-ha! It was something to do with “labels” and being attached to them. This, then, led to the following series of “What-if?” questions. My inner voice chimed in again with, “Imagine yourself pausing between each What if? Feel the question and where it wants to direct your attention.” So here we go. . .
1. What if we just took the labels off? What if we had never divided into Republicans and Democrats and Independents and so many other fragmentary “clans”?
2. What if we hadn’t connected our identity (I am a ___) with one of these political clans? And therefore, what if we had no need to degrade or vilify the not-us others and glorify our like-us believers?
3. What if we were simply “Americans” using our common sense to “feel into” candidates for office, people who could accurately represent our deepest truth and dreams? What if we didn’t have to cross “party lines” to vote for someone who felt just right?
4. What if we took time to pay attention to who our would-be representatives really are beneath the surface of their personality-presentations? We do know how to do that — to read “character” in others, to not trust liars, to not give away our power to charmers and substitute parental figures. What if we listened to our intuition instead of inherited beliefs and blind loyalties?
5. What if we could apply our listening-feeling skills so we could tell if a candidate’s speech matches their character, motives, and understanding about why our country was created and what its spiritual destiny truly is?
6. What if we could easily recognize why we admire would-be leaders? What if we could see that they really do have wisdom-based-on-experience, good hearts, sharp-clear minds, and speak in alignment with higher truths about what’s actually needed now? What if we could discern how they represent a particular characteristic, like bravado or dominating authority, that we think we need more of, or victimization and the need to be rescued that we ourselves feel trapped by? What if these subliminal needs did not influence us to vote for a secretly imbalanced and “needy” candidate?
7. What if, instead of having to embody only the values of the conservative or liberal mindset or the fascist mindset emerging today, we could pick the positive parts of each and combine those qualities into a healthier, more holistic view of how to operate our national and global “community”?
8. What if we paid close attention to understanding what a republic and a democracy are, how fascism and autocracy behave, what socialism and Marxism provide that’s good and also limiting, and how populism, elitism, and nationalism differ?
9. What if we understood these styles of governance without making their names into meaningless terms or abusive epithets? Might we see that some systems champion the development of individuality, while others nurture the group mind and collective consciousness? What if we understood that in this accelerating reality we are all becoming both a Me and a We, and therefore there’s a need to re-tweak political systems, to recombine best practices and outcomes to serve the new Me-We human beings and the Earth itself?
10. Diving deeper, what if we felt into what’s happening on earth energetically — and in our own body, emotions, mind, and spirit — and could understand how political movements and polarizations are unconsciously responding to the heightening frequency in the world, just as we are?
11. What if we understood that the evolutionary need we as individuals have now — to clear ourselves of ego, fear, frustration, resistance, and negativity — finds its parallel in politics and the life of nations? What if we first understood that when we personally resist letting go of old, ineffective behaviors, we contract physically, emotionally, and mentally, become stuck, and eventually “paralyzed” in some way?
12. Then, what if we understood how politics is trying to clear itself of ego and outworn habits? And how, when we resist seeing our own party’s flaws, we often project negative opinions and accusations onto the other parties. The more intense the energy becomes, the more political parties turn extremist, whether conservative or liberal. What if we realized that the farther apart we become, the narrower our understanding, the greater our distrust, and the more hamstrung spiritually-based politics becomes. What if we could see through the surfaces, if it were all more transparent?
13. What if we could clearly see that polarizing into just two defined positions (me-you, us-them, bipartisan politics) blocks the flow of energy and evolution, creates pain, and eventually results in a dramatic shift in form.
14. What if we understood that sharing our understandings, combining the best of the various world views, and seeing what results then arise that frequency-match the evolution of the planet — and the ideal in our own higher realms — could bring all of us into a mutually supportive reality of natural belonging?
15. What if we could experience, even in our imagination, that when needs are met, when people show gratitude and generosity, they don’t become lazy, but creative and co-creative with others. That when the joy of conscious communion with each other is expressed, the creative process and the great Love behind creativity itself is shown to be who we really are. And what if as we evolve, we need less and less oversight or regulation?
16. What if we could envision a time when one hierarchical leader would not be necessary to “run” a country? When we-the-people include all others — whether human, animal, plant, mineral, angel, or ET — inside ourselves, intimately, as part of our totality. And what if this “We” turns out to be wise? What if We live according to universal principles, out of choice, and practice being connected to all of life by a telepathic, kinesthetic, subtle “heart-field” network attuned to the power of compassion? And what if the network is the leader? What if it accurately engineers how evolution, support, provision, and innovation flow from higher dimensions through lower-frequency fields into form, and the low-frequency realms are no longer based on fear? What if politics were fueled by soul?
Just imagining your responses to these “What Ifs” can clarify the mind and immediately shift you into high-frequency perception. When you can feel possibilities as realities, you’re well on your way to enlightened, evolved politics.
Aristotle seems to be the “modern” Father of Politics. He said that good government is not simply directed to public defense, acquiring wealth, or refereeing disputes. It should aim at fostering “a good life” for its citizens, which is all about cultivating happiness and virtue in people, helping them to fully develop and express their creative and rational capacities. He believed that good government requires an understanding of what makes a good human. And that citizens expressing their virtues and good character will contribute to the reality of a good government.
I'd love to hear from you about your own feelings and thoughts on what's happening in politics, not just in the US, but around the world. . .
This is brilliant and so needed in the tumuluous political climate of today. It is very worthy of our deep reflection to contemplate. I intend to share with friends on what our "what ifs" are while discussiing and imagining a vision of new evolved political possiilities. Thank you, Penney! 🎶📡🧲
